Important Update Regarding the Future of Lily & Pine Fibre Arts

It is with a heavy heart that I send this message to you all. After months of deliberation, I have made the extremely tough decision to close Lily & Pine Fibre Arts at the end of the year. This choice was not made lightly, and I wish that it didn't have to be so.

As a few of you may know, I suffer from a few chronic pain conditions, and over the past few years, my symptoms have become unbearable. I have been working with my doctor and my family to try and find ways to alleviate my symptoms, but the physical nature of dyeing has become too much for my body to handle. I had truly hoped that I would have been able to continue working for a few more years, but my body is telling me that it's time to slow down, and find other avenues to express my love of the fibre arts.

What this means going forward...

My last dye day will be December 5th, and after that I will no longer be dyeing up yarn. My online shop will remain open with its existing stock. If you are working on a larger project, I would encourage you to look at the yardage of your pattern to ensure that you have enough yarn to finish, and purchase more if you do not. I would hate for you to play yarn chicken and lose!!

Out of Stock Yarn and Low Quantities

While I still have undyed yarn on all my bases, I only have a few skeins left of some and I will not be bringing in more. When ordering undyed yarn from wholesalers, we must purchase in large quantities (sometimes by over a thousand dollars!) so bringing in more is not feasable. I can dye up what you need, but when I run out of a base, that will be the last of it. If you need more of a certain colour way than is listed on the website, please reach out to me! I am very happy to work with you to get what you need for your projects!

Closing Out Sales

I do not have plans to discount my yarn until late into next year. I know many businesses have a closing out sale when they shut down, so I am letting you know this so you can manage expectations. There are a few reasons for this, but the biggest one is my retailers - many stores across Canada and the US have received shipments from me recently, and I have no desire to undercut them. We are all small businesses trying the best we can! I encourage you to continue to shop from your LYS, and I will be updating my website periodically, based on who still has yarn left in stock. This may change late spring 2025, once my stock has been reduced to just a few skeins here and there.

Gift Cards

If you currently have a gift card, I would also encourage you to use it sooner rather than later. I would love for you to have access to the best selection possible, so if there is something that you've had your eye on, now is the time to grab it! I will be closing down my gift card sales this week, so if you had needed to purchase one, please do so soon. After my last dye day on December 5th, I will no longer be dyeing any yarn (I'll be selling off my equipment so logistically won't be able to!). After that date, I am happy to offer refunds on Gift Cards if I do not have the items you need available.

From the bottom of my heart, Thank You

When I started this little company eight years ago, I never could have imagined it would become what it has today, and that is all in thanks to you!! Who knew others loved crazy bright yarn as much as I do! This has been such an incredible journey, and I am so grateful to each and every one of you. From saying hi at markets, to buying a skein off my first shop on Etsy, to attending one of my classes, you have all meant the world to me. Lily & Pine was supposed to be a little side project to keep my brain busy while I recuperated from back injuries, and has become more than anything I could have dreamed of.

Thank you all so much for all your support. My heart is so full of gratitude for you.

With love,
Erin
